Wellington Traffic Control (WTC) is expanding, and we’re looking for motivated Traffic Management Operatives (TMOs) to join our traffic management division based in Lower Hutt, servicing the Wellington Region.

Whether you’re an experienced leader or just starting out, we have opportunities to grow your career in Temporary Traffic Management (TTM).

Traffic Management Operative – Practising (TMO-P) – Start Your Career in TTM
If you enjoy working outdoors, value safety, and want a hands-on role with real career progression, our TMO position is an excellent entry point into the roading industry. Full training and development are provided.
Please note: All traffic management roles operate on a rotating on-call roster.

Requirements

  • Traffic Management Operative – Practising (TMO-P)
  • Full Class 1 licence (Class 2 an advantage – training support available)
  • Willingness to learn and grow through on-the-job training
  • Enjoyment of outdoor, physical work
  • Strong focus on safety and quality

  • Reliability, punctuality, and a positive attitude

Responsibilities

  • Traffic Management Operative - Practising (TMO-P)
  • Set up worksites, including placing signs and cones
  • Operate Stop/Go paddles or portable traffic signals
  • Assist with specialist activities such as event management
  • Direct traffic and communicate via radio
  • Support safe and efficient site operations
